Procedure and requirements

Application phase

In order to write a master thesis in initial supervision of staff members of the research groups Prof. Dr. Dietmar Frommberger or Juniorprof. Dr. Silke Lange, you have to apply for a period in which you would like to register your thesis.

Four time periods are available for this purpose:

Winters emester 1: Registration of the master thesis between 15.11. and 14.02.
Winter semester 2: Registration between 15.02. and 14.05.
Summer semester 1: Registration between 15.05. and 14.08.
Summer semester 2: Registration between 15.08. and 14.11.

Application is only possible for the current period.

A direct transition to the preparatory training (in NDS and NRW) is ensured by the winter semester 1 or summer semester 1 passages. Information on this can be found under Master's Thesis.

Application Requirements

    • Fulfillment of the admission requirements for the master's thesis in vocational and business education, at the latest within the respective registration period for the master's thesis (see above):
    • Modules M I and M II or M I and M III passed.

  • Creating a six-liner

Application form

The application is made via the Anmeldeformular.

The following information must be entered here:

  • Confirmation of fulfillment of the admission requirements for the master's thesis
  • Personal data
  • Six-liner
  • Details of the working process
    • First and second request of supervisors
    • Expected registration date of the master thesis

Commitment phase

With the expiration of the application deadline of a respective period an examination of the applications takes place.

In the first step, the applications received are checked for compliance with the formal requirements. In the second step, the content of the six-liner is checked.

Subsequently, at the latest by the respective feedback date, the applicants will receive an acceptance or rejection for the initial support by e-mail.

Support, registration and work phase

After a commitment, the support, registration and work phase follows.

The students are contacted by the initial supervisor. This is followed by the further individual supervision process, in which the research project is further concretized.

Subsequently, the work is registered within this phase and processing is started.

Correction phase

With the registration of the Master's thesis, students receive a submission date from the examination office of Department 3. After this submission date, the evaluation phase of the master's thesis begins.

The first and second supervisors each prepare a report on the master's thesis within eight weeks and submit it to the examination office. Afterwards, the evaluation of the master's thesis is made available to the students in HISinOne.
