New BWP project focuses intensively on vocational school teacher training
The University of Osnabrück is once again successful in the "Quality Offensive for Teacher Education": Two applications with a duration from 2020 to 2024 were approved in the current, third round of calls for proposals The University will receive a total of around 1.7 million euros. With the "Teacher Training Quality Offensive", the Federal Government and the Länder want to jointly prepare prospective teachers for the challenges they expect in schools today. BWP is responsible for both projects.
Against the background of the nationwide demand for teachers at vocational schools, the individual project "DEIN LBS Campus - Transitions from Vocational Education to Vocational Education Design", which has now been approved by the University of Osnabrück, deals with the standardisation and quality assurance of the diverse cross- and side-entry activities into the vocational teaching profession as well as the opening of university study phases for part-time studies. The university will receive around 1.5 million euros for this.
The joint project SeReKo from the Universities of Osnabrück and Oldenburg will receive a total of around 600,000 euros in funding, of which around 230,000 euros will go to the University of Osnabrück. The aim of this project, which is also the responsibility of the Vocational and Business Education Department, is to improve the study of the teaching profession for vocational schools by linking the theoretical and practical parts of teacher training more closely.

Thinking and acting in sustainable contexts is part and parcel of the knowledge of a milk technologist. Expert workshop in the NaMiTec project
At the beginning of March 2019, an expert workshop was held at the Dairy Education Centre of the Oldenburg Chamber of Agriculture. At this workshop, the efforts of the companies in the field of sustainability, current needs and future challenges in the area of vocational training for sustainable development in the dairy industry were discussed and compiled. On the basis of this in-depth inventory and needs analysis, competence expectations for vocational training in the profession of milk technologist will now be formulated and concrete teaching/learning modules developed. The aim is to strengthen the sustainability awareness of (inter)company trainers and trainees and to provide them with the necessary knowledge on how sustainability can be implemented in the milk processing industry. The expert workshop clearly demonstrated one thing: Thinking and acting in sustainable contexts is part of the knowledge of a milk technologist.
